Aleksandra Jovicic

 

Aleksandra is currently working on a government-sponsored project to create a computer system for the management of complex crime-related information. Her previous research projects include a study of seamless messaging at the workplace and the development of a visualization model for many-dimensional energy surfaces, both at the National Research Council of Canada. At the University of Paris, France, she conducted a contextual inquiry of the Parisian Transport System's emergency dispatch procedures and provided recommendations for their optimization. She has published several research papers on information exchange and email overload, and was a reviewer for the CHI2001 conference. Aleksandra has won a National Research Council of Canada award for excellence in science and engineering. She holds a Hon. B.Sc. in Computer Science and Mathematics and an M.Sc. in Computer Science with specialization in Human-Computer Interaction from the University of Toronto.

Aleksandra speaks four languages, volunteers in an experimental theatre and enjoys dragonboating and hiking. She is a native of Sarajevo, Bosnia. Achieving academic excellence during the tumultuous years of civil war in her country is the accomplishment she is most proud of.
