NOTE: this page is slowly being moved over to code-n-patches page...
This page is devoted to some projects I am working on. I usually
embark on one of these because I want to learn about some aspect
of coding, be it a new language, or some feature that I have never
tried before. These are not really meant to be propergpublic releases,
although if I find that there some interest in any of these, I'll
clean them up and make them much more presentable and useable.
Right now, most of these are just quick hacks, toys that I could
not obtain elsewhere but found indispensable.
Active projects
- pyurlview.py: a more flexible replacement for
mutt's `urlview' program. This is a
Python script. I use Python 2.1; I am
not sure how well this script runs with older versions. Now allows
tagging of URLs, and operating on the tag list.
- glbiff: an xbiff replacement
(YET ANOTHER!), similar to the "mailbox" on SGIs. Uses Mesa
libraries (you could easily convert this to use OpenGL).
- TkWallpaper: a prog for
changing your background at specified intervals (nice
interface)
Obsolete
- updatesig.pl: a Perl script
that updates your `.signature' file with a new quote every
time (go here for my current crop of quotes).
- xaxo: a (long way to go) game for
X11; RPG/adventure a la Ult!ma 6; only a world displayer so far;
uses axonometric projection (a la XC@M)
- tkpppload: displays traffic
over your ppp link; much better stuff can now be found with
KDE or GNOME.
- tkdiff: present graphical
representation of the 'diff' of two files; much better
alternatives out there -- my fav being `ediff' mode in emacs.
- sendwebpages: I used this
to update the web pages on the school server using those on my
home computer as the source; I now use `rsync' -- it's a
million times better.
- TkPaint: a paint program
(specially suited for game developers), roughly based on D*luxe
Paint IIe; project retired; with GIMP around why would anyone
want anything else?
