Biking home from work

This is yet another experiment with Garmin GPS Unit, Geko 301. The purpose of these experiments is to evaluate how good these GPS units are. I've so far only tried the Geko 301, but the Magellan units also seem promising. Try going into full screen mode (press F11 in IE, and make all the toolbars go away), then click on the "Follow route" button above.

The map to the left shows the track log when biking from King & Spadina (where I work) to Millwood & Overlea (where I live). It's interesting to note that for the most part (easily visible when you zoom in enough) the track is accurate enough to tell on which side of the street I'm biking on! On the other hand, there's a couple of spots where it got a bit confused, like just west of Yonge on Bloor, and when I got close to home. I had just put the GPS unit in the back pockets of my biking shirt. It still produced pretty good results. At some point I want to try purchasing a bike mount to see if that would produce more accurate results.
