1) A prototype video mail system has been deployed for experimentation and shake -down at the Toronto and Ottawa sites. Video mail is exactly what is sounds like ....a video version of voice mail or e-mail. The system uses the IIIF node equip ment to record and view messages under control of an interface program which run The v-mail (video mail) is stored on a standard VHS video tape on a dedicated vc r at each site. The system works for cross-site communications using the CODECs to transport the mail messages between sites (currently, once a day).
